4th Grade Literacy
Hello Fourth Graders and Parents!
I am Madison Stockton, and I am so excited to learn along with you all this year. As a class, we will all become better readers, writers, thinkers, and explorers together, and I can't wait for the journey we have ahead of us.
I had the privilege of completing my student teaching experience here at Southmoor two years ago with fifth graders, and I am so lucky that I get to continue my career at such a supportive school within an equally encouraging community. I've worked with children my whole life, from working in childcare to tutoring to youth volunteer programs. I am a native Denverite who grew up close to Southmoor, and I can't imagine living anywhere other than this beautiful state. I love learning, running outside, reading all types of books, writing whenever I can, spending time with those I love, and ice cream.
This year in literacy, fourth graders will focus on improving their critical thinking skills. This will occur through the close reading of various genres, the extraction of specific text evidence, engagement in extensive creative and collaborative learning experiences, and the exploration of literature on diverse and relevant topics. We will be diving into poetry, multiple scientific texts, engaging stories, and important historical texts as well.
We will all create, wonder, question, cooperate, and persevere together in order to become more masterful readers, writers, and thinkers.

4th Grade Math, Science, and Social Studies
Krissy was born and raised in Englewood, Colorado. She attended UNC in Greeley, receiving a BA in Elementary Ed., Social Science and then later she received her MA in Elementary Ed. through UNC as well. This will be her eighth year in DPS. This will be her 10th year at Southmoor. Krissy taught 3rd grade here at Southmoor her first two years and looped up with her last class last year and taught 4th grade and loved it! Since Krissy is a native, she enjoys snowboarding, exercising at Wash Park and riding her big yellow bike.
